Watching Grass Grow: It's Dead, Jim

The grass is now mostly khaki, not green. We had a 1-night cold spell and the temperature dropped to just below freezing. Apparently that's enough to trigger dormancy, because over the next week or so the green color vanished. This picture was taken December 12th.

The next question will be "How soon does it get green"?

So the UC Verde went brown on you. Mine is too. Also, it has not knit together 100 percent. I'm not complaining though. Just observing.

Have you heard about the Eco-Lawn? Supposed to stay green year round and is drought tolerant too.

Shirley - I have my doubts that something that is 100% fescue, developed in Ontario, Canada, would survive in Arizona on less water than the Buffalograss.

"Eco-Lawn was developed by Paul Jenkins and Miriam Goldberger of Wildflower Farm Inc., a native plant nursery and natural landscaping company located in Schomberg Ontario"

Mine's gone khaki too. All the neighbors are snickering and giving me these "told ya so" looks. Schmucks....
